High School Dinner

Went to dinner with some high school girlfriends - some I haven't seen for over 30 years. We had a great time revisiting high school days and being updated on several classmates. We also talked about where we are now and what we are doing. Attending the dinner were Jenine Jones, Jan Moon, Janet Corbridge, Jill Bollingbrook, Sandra Archibald and Anita Kearns. It will be our 40 year reunion this year. Where did the time go. Thanks Jan for getting us together and for organizing the class reunion this fall.

Florida Trip July 19 - 25 2008

The condo was awesome. It was new and so nice. I had a king bed all to myself. The surroundings were so beautiful. Friday we went to Downtown Disney for some last minute shopping and then on to the airport for me. Dianne and Lindsay flew home on Saturday. It was a wonderful trip. Thank you Dianne and Lindsay for inviting me. I had such a great time.

The Everglades

On Thursday we went to the Everglades. This was a beautiful and interesting place. We saw crocodiles in the wild, eagles, exotic birds, mangrove trees, and miles and miles of grasslands growing out of water. We got the the very tip of Florida where we saw the Gulf of Mexico.

Hollywood

Wednesday we spent a fun day at another amusement park called Hollywood. There were lots of fun rides and entertainment. It rained every afternoon and everyone just put on their ponchos and kept right on going. I have never seen it rain so hard. I guess that is why Florida is so green.

Kennedy Space Center

Tuesday we went to Kennedy Space Center. This was the most amazing place. We learned so much about the shuttle and about landing on the moon. The spaceship to the moon was HUGE. It was all so interesting. That night we ate at the wharf on Cocoa Beach and waded in the ocean. Great Day!!

Epcot

On Tuesday we spent the day at Epcot. It was very fun and interesting.

Orlando Florida Temple

I traveled to Florida and met Dianne and Lindsey on Saturday night. On Sunday we attended church and then visited the Orlando Temple.

California Trip

We traveled to California to attend the funeral of Rick Poole, Kiley's brother. The services were very inspiring and we learned a lot about Rick and the wonderful life he lived. It was a very sad day.
The next day, Saturday, we went to the Newport Beach Temple with our family and Kiley's family. It was a sacred experience to be in this beautiful place. After the temple we went to Huntington Beach and ate and enjoyed the ocean setting.
We spent a few days at Arch and Kiley's. Mom made scones and we all ate until we were sick. We played games and went shopping and enjoyed family time together. Mom, Trudy and Cris traveled back home to Utah on Tuesday.

Angel Moroni on Draper Temple

We Saw An Angel

We had the awesome privilege of watching the Angel Moroni fly to the top of the Draper Temple. We got the tip from a little bird in a hard hat that the event was taking place. These pictures should be priceless someday especially if some of the kids actually get married in this temple.

Soda Springs

On Sunday we went to church. Everyone was wondering where mom was. Mom didn't go because we couldn't get the motor home fixed and we knew she needed a place to stay with air conditioning. Maybe next time.

After Church we drove to Soda Springs. We missed the geyser but went and visited Hooper Springs and played at the playground for a while.

Next we drove over to the ranch. Would you believe the GATE WAS OPEN. We drove almost all the way to the spring on the other side. It was so beautiful. The cattle looked so pretty and were very curious about the kids and the kids were very curious about the cattle. I could feel Dad and Grandpa there. It made me realize how hard Dad worked and the long hours he spent getting the cattle to Soda. Sometimes he would make two trips in one day. How did he do it? I waded across the water and went over to the spring. The water looked so good and I was so thirsty. I filled my bottle with the water and took a drink. It was ice cold and tasted sooooooo good. I wanted a drink so bad that I was willing to risk the bugs. I didn't get sick so I was happy. What fond memories that place holds. It is a little piece of heaven on earth.

We drove back and stopped at Lava. They now have tubes that people put in the Portneff River at the beginning of town and float down to where the new swimming pool is. It seemed like a beach town. Everyone was in their swimming suits carrying tubes up the street. We had a very nasty dinner and then drove back to Power House

Camping Trip to Power House

We went to Power House on Friday and set up the tent trailer. Doug got out the mower and mowed until it finally gave out. We had tin foil dinners that night. There was Angie's family, Cris, Chelsea, Dianne and Jimmy and family. Jimmy went home after dinner. The next day Dianne, Chelsea and Cris went for a 3 hour trail ride. Angie fixed ribs in the dutch oven for dinner. It was awesome. Dianne and Chelsea went home.
We went to church and did the day trip to Soda on Sunday.

One Monday Breanna and I went for a trail ride. We rode up farther than I have ever been before. Usually the trail stops but the ATV's have made a trail all the way to the top. The view was spectacular. It was called Elkhorn Peak - 9,095 elevation. Breanna is my new riding partner. Angie is pregnant and Jessica is busy being a mom. Breanna seems to love to ride almost as much as I. This was her first mountain ride and we were gone almost 3 hours. She is becoming a great little rider and I am so glad to have a riding partner. I feel like I have gone back in time. I keep calling her Jessica. After the ride we had a roast dutch over dinner. It was very tasty. We played games and sat around the fire and went to bed.

The tent trailer was awesome. We had showers every day. The toilet worked great. There was lots space and it was great not having to have the trailer up there.

I had an aero bed in the pickup. I plugged in a lamp and had a cozy little bedroom where I could read and sleep. It was very comfy.

The only problem about the trip was that we needed more people. Has everyone given up on camping. If we don't get a cabin everyone just needs to buy a tent trailer.

Also, thank you Mom and Dad for providing such a beautiful place to go. It is so peaceful and beautiful and much cooler than in the city. It was great to have the water and sewer and pasture. I know that Dad was smiling down on us all the while we were there. That is what he wanted, a place for us to enjoy.
